Learn Euro Nymphing — also known as tight-line nymphing — in a simple and effective way. Our instructors will teach you how to control your nymphs’ drift and detect strikes almost instantly, helping you catch more fish with less effort.
What is Euro Nymphing?
Euro Nymphing emerged from European competitions in the 1980s, where floating strike indicators and additional weights were not permitted. Instead, a highly visible section of line known as a sighter is used to detect strikes while maintaining direct contact with the nymph.
What Our Training Includes
Includes: 1 day of fishing, 1 certified instructor and theoretical and practical training.
Does not include: Accommodation or transport.
Theory
- Basic principles of Euro Nymphing.
- How to read the river and choose the best fishing spots.
- Simple line, leader and sighter setup.
On-the-Water Practice
- Short casts and line control.
- Adjusting depth by changing nymph size.
- How to set the hook, fight and safely release fish.
Recommended Basic Equipment
- A 10–11 ft rod and #2–#3 line: the longer rod provides better drift control at different distances, while the lighter line offers greater sensitivity.
- A balanced reel to counterbalance the weight of the rod.
- A long leader (6–9 m) with a high-visibility sighter to help detect strikes.
- Weighted nymphs with tungsten beads in various sizes to adjust fishing depth.

Benefits of Euro Nymphing
Greater sensitivity and drift control
Direct contact with the nymph allows you to detect even the subtlest strikes.
Less Drag
Without a floating strike indicator on the surface, the nymphs can drift more naturally and convincingly.
Versatility
Simply change the weight of the nymph to fish fast currents, deep pools or small rivers without having to change the entire setup.
